An Adult Catechumenate
hosted by
Triumphant King Lutheran Church
A Time to Search and Share Our Journey After a while, those choosing to continue their journey are welcomed by the congregation at a special service. Companions then join you in a more focused period of learning and growth. Regular gatherings continue in small groups with plenty of opportunity for hearing and discussing the Scriptures, sharing experiences, and praying together. Worship within the larger community is also explored and enjoyed. This part of your journey is not simply for instruction (doctrine) but also formation (doing). You explore a deeper, spiritual walk with God, with us, in the way of Christ. Traditionally, this period of the journey is known as the "Catechumenate." A serious word for a simple exploration and holistic experience in faith. This time is especially helpful for people preparing for Baptism or Affirmation of Baptism. A Time to Mark and Live Our New Life A last but first step of the journey in faith is Baptism or Affirmation of Baptism. This often occurs at the Easter Vigil during the season of new life. A sacramental event and sacred rites mark your calling by God the Father in Jesus Christ the Son. The Spirit anoints! The path ahead is lighted! And together, we walk a life-long journey of faith, hope, and love in Christ's Church and God's world. Step by step in a life with God in the way of Christ. At this time, you share the Lord's Supper with the whole Church community (Holy Communion). Then we travel on together exploring, engaging, experiencing our "Baptismal Life and Vocation" as Christ's disciples, walking with God in daily life, family, church and community.
